My Latest Styling Tool Additions

As we are getting back into weekly shoots, we are adding to our inventory and adding props and tools that can help achieve a variety of shots. We have amassed a very large collection of props, tools and decor and I am looking forward to sharing some of those in the very near future with you all, but for now, just going to run down the list of the recent items I have purchased for shoots and why.

We shoot with Blue Mercury every month to generate content for their social media and marketing for Lune & Aster and M61 with the Laura Metzler Photo team (if you follow on social you may have seen that from time to time HA HA). Well, all five of these are to help in generating their content.

First up, greenery options! We have a number of options to use at the studio, and you would think we only use them to add into the shot, but we use greenery even more for shoot through and with to create shadows. We added this one for a new shadow for a shot this month.

We use color seamless backdrops for many of our images, but when we just need to grab a quick tight shot, smaller colored mats have been working wonders. You have to be really careful with them as they stain easily, but they are richer and better quality for tight shots than regular paper.

And the final piece that we have been testing out is our new disco ball. We have been playing with how to bounce light and make sparkle using this bad boy.

You may have heard me sing the praises of "goop" aka Museum Wax from time to time.... and so enters, museum gel! I am so excited about this because it's clear. We often have times where what we shoot is transparent so the wax can be seen, so this should solve that problem. TBD... I'm sure I'll be sharing every detail in stories!

Drip drops!! Are so hard! We use a number of tools to create beautiful water illusions. We spray, wipe, swish, blow and drop water in various ways to show off the products and hydration.

Creating these images takes a lot of propping and bouncing and balancing and these are just some of my latest finds to do that! Cannot wait to see what they all produce in our upcoming shoots.

Cheers!
