2023 Wedding Trends: According To Me
Jumping on this bandwagon - that I have shockingly never done before! Let's talk about trends for weddings in 2023. What do I think we are going to see a lot of and what my couples are already asking for.
Normally I shy away from these trend posts because I don't want couples that aren't doing these things to feel like they've got it wrong. But that is NOT true! Every couple is different, and everyone has a style that is unique to them and what they envision for their day. I recently had a couple ask me how I approach weddings and each couple, and I can honestly say that every single one is different. Every vision comes from a different place, unique inspiration and the story of that couple.
So, these trends are my baseline prediction of things that I am seeing with my couples, and across the industry. They are not the thing that everyone should run out and start adding to their day.
Cakes are back! After years of "no cake just a dessert buffet," they are making a comeback in a big way and I am here for it. By the numbers, 8 of our couples last year did not have a cake. This year, every couple except 1 so far has confirmed that they want a cake. And not every cake has to be your traditional tiered, floral masterpiece. Our favorite from 2022 was a delicious lemon ricotta cake from a local DC bakery Pluma - https://plumabybluebird.com/ - DELISH!
Aisles and Ceremonies that WOW which is THRILLING for me personally! I feel like so many couples don't want to spend the time or money on this but I just know that it makes it all pop and come together beautifully. A really big way to kick off the day for guests! It can be simple petals, or larger floor arrangements, or my personal favorite floral columns to mark the spot for 'I Do'
Mismatched Maids have been in for awhile but I think they are here to stay. Florals, textures, fabrics, colors, the more mixed the better! Giving the maids a chance to pick their own dress, something they are going to feel comfortable in and dare I say maybe wear again the future is IN!
Speaking on in - Sustainability efforts are all the rage and are becoming increasing more important to couples. Whether it's renting and reusing specific items, not using as much paper or donating the florals at the end of the night, more and more couples are becoming more intentional about what happens to the things that they select for their.
A great range in colors of soft tones and deep tones and shying away from your average pastels and bright pops of color. Couples are using color in a more quiet way. They are leaning more towards taupes and softer greens or on the opposite end deeper reds and dark navy, rather than your pops of pink and bright leafy greens.
We are working on our 2023 weddings to incorporate so much of this and more of their unique touches, loving every detail.
Cheers,
E
