December Thoughts

As this year comes to an end, I am choosing to think back on only the positive that has happened. One thing that is a common thread in all that I do and the thing that has turned out to be the most positive thing to come out of 2019 - collaboration.

This year was huge for collaborative projects, support, events, and spirit! Maybe I just feel it ten times more because of Fostr Collaborative but I have been looking around my community and at what else has been going on around me and seeing so many people lifting each other and working together to create amazing things!

I think that it is so important to work together and give of yourself in order to help others because at the end of the day not a single one of us is where we are now because there wasn’t someone who did that for us. Whether it was giving of time, craft, material, money or advice, it’s truly the only way we are ever able to do what we do.

For me personally, I have an amazing group of people that collaborate with me daily. My team, those that I contract with to complete a project, my vendors for every wedding, my Fostr women, and friends in the industry that are my go to’s for helping me execute even the whackiest of ideas. I very literally could not do what I do without them.

But still it amazes me how many people don’t understand that just sometimes these collaborative efforts are what make the difference for someone else. It’s not always about what it will do for you. Yes everyone still needs to make money, and be conscious of their time etc. etc. But, my hope is that in 2020, those that maybe said no to collaboration in 2019 will find the time, money and energy to say yes in 2020 so that we can all create some awesomely whacky things in 2020!

Happy end of 2019 friends! I, for one, am looking forward to January 1!
