local holiday gift guide.

SANTA!!!! I know him! Or at least I pretend I do every December in order to buy friends and family the perfect gift. One of my favorite traditions is getting to play Santa to my Italian side of the family and buying presents for all 20 members of the family.

This year I decided to round up some semi local gifts from brands that I have been coveting this year. In 2016 I discovered some awesome artists, makers, craftsman and designers in various industries that make some of the best holiday gifts.

Starting with some things for the ladies, my friends at Kicheko Goods and Matine make the best accessories. Kicheko Goods makes beautifully minimalist jewels with intention – at a great price point! And don’t even get me started on the softest leather goods in the district. Matine makes everything from key chains and wallets to totes and satchels in an array of shades, textures and patterns, all manufactured in the US.

Since this year has been the year of our new home, it wouldn’t be a list without two awesome home décor items. I am a total candle freak and Pure Palette has some candles with incredible holiday scents to get everyone in the spirit – I love “renewing friendship” that smells of Virginia Fir. Add a touch of functionality to your décor with handmade trays, dishes and coasters from the vintage vogue (more to come from this creative on the blog in 2017). They are beautiful simple in design and can be both practical and beautiful.

For a toasty date night grab a glass of Cotton + Reed’s dry spiced rum and mix up a holiday cocktail. They are just brewing their second batch at their new tasting room so it’s bound to be fresh and tasty! And what goes best with rum? Chocolate of course! And not just any chocolate, the prettiest looking chocolate in the District from Harper Macaw (have you seen their packaging?!). To go with the rum I recommend their dark blend that has the tiniest hint of sweet jam.

And for the little one (ours still pending), I have completely fallen in love with the Love of letters alphabet matching game. It’s the perfect, handmade stocking stuffer with impeccable design and bright color that any babe will find entertaining!

Most of these brilliant brands have plenty of inventory or are still taking orders through next week for the holidays. And if your list is already checked twice then just check them out in 2017. Happy Holidays!
