May Thoughts: Just 10 Minutes a Day with the Kids
10 minutes a day. Doesn’t seem like much right? Well I recently read a compelling post on Instagram about the power of just spending 10 minutes a day having one on one time with each of your kids. So, 30 minutes a day can’t be that hard, can it?
Some days it is definitely easier said than done. Some days, the hard part is the one on one time and some days it’s the 10 minutes. And other days, it’s all just hard!
What I am acutely aware of, and do not take for granted is the time. !0 minutes, 45 minutes, or just a passing glance every once in awhile. Their time and these times are precious. I will miss these days. I know I will!!
How do you fill this time? When the days are hard, what do you fill the time with? In my house on the easy days, it’s easy!
My favorite go-to 10 minute activities are:
Coloring time together.
Looking up their favorite animal facts online, fish, dinosaurs, mermaids and unicorns are the preferred.
A quick walk or scooter ride in the neighborhood
Special snack time at home or going out to grab
Snuggles and talking about their day or if in the morning what they dreamed about the night before
On the hard days it's just sitting together while I type blog posts like this, or while I make dinner, or for 10 minutes as they fall asleep on my lap while I unwind with my glass of wine. Regardless, I try to remind myself to find that time whenever I can.
