Warm, Cold Weather Meals To Try

Winter is coming [cue the GOT theme song].

Since my children are refusing to wear actual winter coats, we are going to force it with our nightly dinner choices. One of my favorite winter night meals is my classic, easy Bolognese. Truly one of my favorite dishes to make! The pasta, the warm, heavy sauce, the pasta. Having spent half of my childhood in Milan, Italy, I am definitely partial to a nice warm pasta dish any night of the year, but most especially in the winter.

It got me thinking about some other cold weather recipes. In addition to my Bolognese, I also have my annual Butternut Squash Soup. I usually only make this around Thanksgiving, but I definitely need to update this recipe to share with you all, so I think it will be coming around again soon.

I did a some digging to find some new recipes for this winter season and I am so excited about these three.

  1. Swedish Meatballs: Ikea visit anyone? I don't know that I could ever make these as well as our amazing Swedish friends at the big blue and yellow home of the Fratka shopping bag. When I saw this recipe, I was shocked at how easy it was and cannot wait to make this one - the kids might actually eat it!

  2. Stuffed Shells: Ok sensing a theme there? Pasta and more pasta. I have to admit I don't think I have ever actually made stuffed shells, so this will be fun! And I think this would be a great one to get the kids involved with making.

  3. Sweet Potato Gnocchi: Ok I have problem... Hi my name is Elizabeth, and I'm addicted to pasta. So, usually I just cheat and use the Trader Joe's Sweet Potato Gnocchi, but this one looks like fun to do from scratch.

When the weather gets more and more cold and activities become scarce, I take to the kitchen, so these are going to be great new recipes to try! Stay tuned to see how these turn out.

And please share some of your warm, cold weather recipes!

Cheers,

E
