Goodbye 2020 - Hello 2021

I guess let's start the year at the very beginning. Right?! Well over the last 10 days, 2021 has already felt like a year in itself in some ways.

Let's recap the timeline of the dumpster fire that was 2020:

  • The year started off on a high of new projects and clients with Laura Metzler Photography and booking our highest number of weddings with Lauren Louise Collective

  • Along with the rest of the world, life and business came to a complete stop in March 2020 (very literally on my 33rd birthday)

  • The pandemic allowed for some increased time in New York with family that really allowed the kids a ton of beach and outdoor time, this was a highlight for me

  • We struggled through, had some hard conversations about and came to terms with the realization that our country is inherently racist and that we need to dismantle this (results of that pending)

  • Spent a week with our bests on the Eastern Shore for July 4th

  • Business picked back up in July and things were NON STOP until Thanksgiving

  • We celebrated our sweet peach Hadley turning TWO with a family trip to the zoo

  • Bought a dream home in Northern VA and did some renovating and moved

  • Both Patrick and I voted in a historic election for a man that we hope will bring new peace to this country (results of this are not pending despite what some may think... Biden won)

  • We found out we were pregnant with our third babe, only to lose them just 10 days later

  • And we said good bye to 2020 and ushered in 2021 the same way we do every year - Celebrating our (no so) little Cannon

So, in summary but the highest of highs but there were bright spots in 2020, and some very low and hard spots too. So what is 2021 looking like around here?

I think the biggest thing is staying optimistic and staying on track. One of the things that 2020 taught me was to not give up on my plan. So the first step is making that plan! With the help of Katie Wussow and her Thrive in Five program, I have been very carefully and critically review my 2020 and looking forward to my goals for 2021. Some of the highlights of what we are focusing on:

  • Focus on marketing; specifically social media and this blog

  • Developing and using new systems for clients and internally among the team

  • Finding a way to make an impact this country's current struggle

  • Decorating and making our house feel more and more like a home

  • Growing our other businesses including Compact Weddings and Fostr Collaborative

  • Spending more time away from all of the above to be present for myself and the kids

So LET'S FUCKING GO 2021! I am here and ready for you! I would love to hear what others are working on in 2021 - comment below or DM me @elizabeth_carberry
