chardonnay-nay

Took a little trip out to wine country va this past weekend. Patrick and I joined our friends Becca and Steve for a day trip to do some wine tasting (slash also just drinking). First stop was the Italian store where we purchased enough rations to feed a small army. But if you've never been there, get there! They have an incredible selection of fine Italian meats and cheeses. We want with four different cheese and three different meat (we were hungry!).

Our wine destination was barrel oak winery. An awesome dog friendly, kid friendly vineyard with a scenic view, on top of rolling hills in delaplane, va. we had all been there once before so we were eager to get back and see what their latest and greatest was. We started with a full flight tasting (7 glasses for $8 - can't beat that!). Our three favorites were:

3. Meritage: "Beautiful ruby color, aroma of black fruit with a rustic and long earthy finish."

2. BOWhaus Red: "Full body with balanced acidity."

1. Yup you guessed it... The estate Chardonnay: "Aroma of fruit with apple and pear on the palate, balanced acidity and a fresh finish."

I am really not a Chardonnay lover normally (typically Pinot Grigio or Sauvi B for me), but this was so light and crisp that I really fell in love. Definitely worth the drive out for it and you can buy some online here. A great weekend sunday funday activity!

we also got some great photos outside just as some flurries were coming down!

enjoy!
