As you may have seen, my gorgeous home that Kerra Michele Interiors (formally Apt Envy) designed was featured in the March issue of Washingtonian magazine - which is so exciting for us!! And one detail that you may miss is the abundance of personal items we have throughout the house.
I have always been a huge fan of Framebridge, the D.C. startup that has taken the framing world by storm, so I knew I wanted to work with them when we started designing the house. If you aren't familiar with Framebridge by now (you should be), but basically you can digitally or physically send them anything and everything that needs to be framed and they'll ship it back to you. The cost is competitive when it comes to other print, matte and frame options, but what makes it worth it is the ease of execution and quick turnaround (sometimes less than 2 weeks)!
I chose to frame a few things with them. Two small pieces of art, a few memories for cannon's room and our gallery wall. Framebridge has so many amazing frame and matte combinations. For art, I typically stick to black and white frames. Very minimal and clean to not distract from the work. So I use either the Irvine or mercer.
In cannon's room we framed two memories for him, his shower and gender reveal invitations (ok fine maybe those are for me), and the most important one for the three of us, his sonogram. I picked the beverly and olympia for the invites and my "go to" mercer to compliment cannon's sono.
Last but not least, the gallery wall. This wall will definitely be ever changing as cannon gets older and we are able to take more photos but I love how it turned out!! I did a mix of sizes and frames to frames memories with some the people we love most. The challenge was hanging them above the staircase at 7 months pregnant... I elicited some help from the hubby. I ended up choosing a mix of the mercer, irvine, buckhead, Bali, montauk and newport frames to bring in the black and white decor of the house but also a pop with the metallics. It's definitely my favorite wall in the house!
Designing the gallery was another fun challenge because I wanted to be sure I configured it for adding photos as time went on... more on how I did that in another post maybe. But in the meantime, get framin' cause it's amazingly awesome! and you get 15% off using code egcarberry15 - you're welcome!
