obsessed. september 2017.

is it fall yet? i wish... because it seems to still be 1000 degrees. sooo my mind this month has still been on the warmer side with my selections! i have basically been wearing number 1 on repeat this month and cannon has been wearing number 2 (in 4 colors ... on repeat). and all while listening to my feel good song of the fall (literally).

as you may know, most of the art that i become obsessed with i connect with on instagram and this month was no different. taylor has an amazing feed and recently installed at west elm!

oh and who doesn't need a fancy shmancy soap sponge ...

maybe next month will be a little more comfy and cozy and "fall"!

cannon thomas. month 7.

This month was all about the food… new high chair, new food and a spoon - oh my! We did some great family traveling and Cannon is growing like a weed. Solids are rolling along nicely but we have already found a favorite. I have been a little picky about his food being organic and making sure I at least recognize all of the ingredients in this food and have found the squeeze packs to be the easiest as opposed to the jars. They are great for on the go and can still be easily squeezed into a bowl for spoon feeding! He is obsessed with peaches - ob.sessed. And he goes no where with his spoon (figured we give him anything and everything he wants and all the kid wants is a spoon…)!

He is also getting more interested in playing on his own. I have really tried to avoid buying a bunch of junk toys and sticking to buying toys as needed which so far has been working out well! One toy we received as a gift that he really has been obsessed with is his dump truck. It’s interactive and small enough for him to kind of roll around with!

And lastly… if you follow along on Instagram at all you would know that we have been going to A LOT of Nationals baseball games and he already has his own bat to start practicing (it’s also not so bad as a teether - especially since he got two more teeth this month)!

bring on month 8!

obsessed. august 2017.

i missed june and july's obsessions (woops) so i think this is likely a combo but I figured i would get it up and out earlier than usual so that maybe people will actually spend their paychecks on these things like i did... this month i mixed it up between local and mainstream picks and unlike may i only own 1 of 5, the stokke high chair. and unless you live under a rock, you probably will notice number 1 is from the nordstrom sale which has been everywhere for the last few weeks and every blogger under the sun seems to be buying their entire year's wardrobe from the sale but the thing i needed most was new day-to-day studs and these fit the bill! oh and i guess i have heard the imagine dragons song a few times...

happy shopping friends!

styled shoot. hotel hive.

Today was a big day because I can finally share that my incredible styled shoot with Lauren Louise photography is live on district weddings!! This shoot was the brain child of my great friend Lauren and she brought me on board to help with general coordination and styling. and if you have never worked with lauren - do it. she is a force! and her photography has a living, breathing quality that is just amazing.

A little background ... my role in these shoots is to help the coordinator bring their vision to life. I help in connecting the right vendors to participate and then I help in styling those vendors so that it all comes together to achieve the coordinator's (usually the photographer's) vision. and Lauren’s vision for this shoot was a dream!

She approached me about doing a styled elopement, which I immediately was drawn to because I had never worked on an elopement before. The venue was picked for the newly opened, hotel hive which is in the foggy bottom neighborhood of Washington, dc (near George Washington university). She already had an idea for some of the vendors she wanted on board, but the rest was up to me. So we worked together to pull local jewels, handbags, outfits, bites and desserts ... and even a vintage car that was a personal touch from a close friend of mine.

And the outcome? AMAZING! It truly was an incredible day working with Daniel and Maggie (who btw are the cutest together) and we were so touched by the vendor team’s attention to detail to really take our theme and direction to heart in their contributions.
